The latest health craze over the last one month is moringa seeds. It is being sold in certain morning markets in Kuala Lumpur, online stores such as Aliexpress, lelong.com.my and eBay.
The moringa tree also known as drumstick tree due to the long slender triangular seed pods that the tree bears,and horseradish tree due to the taste of the roots.
These drought resistant trees which are native in the Himalayas in north western India are now being widely cultivated in tropical areas such as Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Africa, etc.
Since moringa seeds contains plenty of zinc which is important for regulating the secretion of insulin hormone, the level of sugar in the bloodstream will be normalized. Thus, this leads to its effectiveness in treating diabetes.
Aside from that, the peeled white color moringa seeds are also good for lowering high cholesterol level, and easing constipation, regulate liver, kidney functions and lower blood pressure. Of course, since I am not a doctor, I cannot vouch for the result but I do have a friend whose mum has been taking it for a year who experiences lower blood cholesterol level.
As for myself, I find passing stool easier and on a more regular basis. It also cure my coughing which I am very prone due to heatiness. Moringa seeds with the function of increasing the natural defense body system due to its richness in Vitamin A and C will strengthen the immune system leading to cold prevention.
