As with other Siamese temples, today celebration of Wesak Day in Buddha Jayanti Temple, situated near the place where Jalan Peel meets Jalan Tun Razak, is bustling with faithful devotees.

The most prominent feature of the temple is the shining golden pair of gigantic Qilin statues that guards the hexagonal Jayanti temple. When I first saw them, I was startled by its sheer size and its close proximity with the road.

For devotees, the first thing to do when entering the temple on this auspicious day is to offer incense to Buddha. The smoky environment gives one a sense of tranquility and purity, not to mention, for me, teary eyes!!

In this holy day, you can have your valuable possession blessed by the monks with some enchantments.

Now. it's time for some holy water sprinkle to cleanse the spirit.

Hmmm.....look like this year the color of the charmed wrist strings have changed to lighter color. Orange to yellow!

With the contribution of some charitable hands, one can enjoy free vegetarian mee hoon with curry paste with....

the accompanying golden yummy pumpkin soup.

Have you seen money tree before? No? Here it is...

Well, it seems money does grows on tree here.. at least in Buddha Jayanti temple. Of course, this is made possible with faithful devotees who are lining up for their Buddha bathing ritual and holy water packets.

The act of bathing the buddha statue with holy water immersed with flowers is believed to be able to cleanse one's spirit and "wash" away one's sins. Pour the water to both side of the Buddha shoulders is the correct way to do it!
Pour this holy water to your bathroom water storage bin and your whole family can enjoy the blessing of Buddha.

As with the previous year and the year before, blood donation campaign is an annual activity in this day.
After all, it is a day of compassion too!
